Our people

3 staff members at PCO standSee Life at the PCO for a taste of life in the office, including videos of Parliamentary Counsel talking about their work.

Many of our staff are highly trained, doing specialised work. To begin working as a Parliamentary Counsel requires two to ten years' post-qualification experience in a legal environment, or drafting experience in another jurisdiction. See Shape the future of New Zealand law for more about working as a drafter, and what this discipline demands.

Many Access to Legislation staff work with tools that are unique to this office, so on-the-job training is provided when required.

Whatever the role, we work to a high standard, build effective relationships, and are flexible.

See Meet the team for more details.
